Seasons of Change Discuss the seasons and their order. Describe the characteristics of trees during each season.
Hanging Leaves Observe the differences between leaves, noting the differences in size, shape, colour and smell.
Fruity Fun Seeds can be planted to grow more fruit. Discuss that fruit contains seeds.
Autumn Leaves Identify the characteristics of the four seasons of the year. Discuss the season of autumn.
Tree Products Discuss the variety of uses people make of trees. Trees provide us with fresh air, food and shelter. Another important product is wood.
   
A Day in the Park Trees can be used to help us. We also enjoy their beauty. Discuss. Cut out magazine pictures of trees and tree products and create a wall frieze. Visit a park and discuss all the things in the park.
Australian Flowers Walk around the school and neighbourhood and observe different types of Australian plants. Draw pictures and list the plants observed.
Story of the Gum Tree Discuss various cycles that occur in nature: the life cycle of the frog, the life cycle of the butterfly, and the seasons of the year.
Shapes and Sizes Observe different shapes and sizes of trees. Discuss the types of trees that are in the children's gardens at home. Classify trees according to shape and size. Find two trees that are different and discuss the differences.
Luscious Lunches Discuss the different parts of a plant that we eat. Have a selection of fresh fruits and vegetables grouped according to the part eaten.
   
My Garden Puppet Friend Colour in, cut out and assemble the puppet. Name the puppet. Discuss the experiences that children might have in the with their puppet friends in the school garden
Which Belongs to Which? Observe the different parts of trees and other plants in the playground. Feel the texture of trunks and leaves.
See How I Grow! Many plants survive unfavourable weather conditions by forming an underground storage structure known as a bulb. Discuss the stages in the growth of a bulb.
How Does Your Garden Grow? Look at the flowers in the garden, bring a flower from home, cut out pictures of flowers from magazines. Compare the different flowers and discuss the many shapes, sizes, colours, smells etc.
Follow Me Home A tree is home to many animals. Display pictures of creatures that make their homes in trees. Discuss what the children see.
