Common Wombat

The Common Wombat is one of Australia's best known animals, often seen around farmland. Wombats dig deep burrows in the forest and in farmers' paddocks, and have adapted very well to living with Humans. A fully grown adult Wombat is not quite so cuddly however... growing up to three feet in length and weighing up to 100 kgs.

Powerful Owl

These large owls become active at night time and with the assistance of very good eyesight hunt for small mammals, lizards, frogs and insects. Powerful Owls are an endangered species but in some areas have become well established, and can even be found in the parks and gardens around Melbourne city areas.

Emu

One of Australia's best known birds, the flightless Emu is the largest native bird in Australia, and the second largest of all the birds in the world. Closely related to the Ostrich, they can often be seen grazing in open farming areas where they forage for grasshoppers, moths, caterpillars and seeds.
